John Thomas Williams

A Memorial Mass for John Thomas Williams, age 73, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 394 East Main Street in Newark with Father Mark Ghiloni officiating.

John was born on October 1, 1948 in Newark, Ohio to the late John E. and Jean (Lake) Williams. He passed away on March 12, 2022 at Embassy of Newark.

John was a people person and worked with the public for many years as manager of the Buxton Tavern in Newark. He had also been a bartender at Buffalo Pines Café. Over the years he was also a weightlifter and was a personal trainer for many people. He was so dedicated to his clients that he even trained a blind woman for several years. He loved to travel, especially with his wife to Las Vegas and California. He enjoyed going to the casinos, listening to music, dancing, and watching movies. He was very quick-witted and always had a joke to share. Above all, John’s family was the most important thing in his life. He loved spending time with his sons and his grandchildren. He was very spontaneous and adventurous and also enjoyed going to amusement parks, golfing, fishing, cookouts, and spending time outdoors in nature. John was a very generous and giving man and loved the Lord. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Newark.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Kay (Shaw) Williams, whom he married July 4, 2000; four sons, Shawn L. (Essie) Williams of Big Bear, California, Tyson R. Williams (Angie Morgan) of Newark, Kristopher R. (Amanda) Williams of Heath, and John E. Williams of Newark; grandchildren, Brayden M. Williams, Shane J. Williams, Owen R. Williams, and Addison S. Williams; sister, Nancy (Neil) Hahn of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
