A funeral service celebrating the life of John William “Wolfy” Wolfe, Sr., age 74, of Newark, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 24, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Clifford Mason as Celebrant. Military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark. John was born October 2, 1946 in Newark, Ohio to the late Albert Russell and Mabel Mae (Roberts) Wolfe. He passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Licking Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. John was a 1966 graduate of Newark High School. He was a Vietnam veteran and faithfully served his country from 1966-1980 in the United States Army. John retired from Superior Building Services where he had been Custodial Supervisor. John was an AVID softball player for most of his life. He also enjoyed bowling, computer games, trips to the casino, and trying his luck with lottery tickets. He enjoyed watching sports and was a fan of the OSU Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds, and the Dallas Cowboys. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carol Ann (Music) Wolfe, whom he married November 2, 1970; son, John W. Wolfe, Jr. (Joyce Willey) of Newark; daughter, Tracy Wolfe of Newark; grandchildren, Alyssa Dumas (fiancé Calvin Brown) of Columbus and Samantha Appleman of Loveland; great-grandchildren, Davon, De’Andre, DeMari and Dacian; brother, Brian (Angie) Wolfe of Hinesville, Georgia; sisters, Marilyn (Dave) Hunt of Hebron and Janice Copeland of Burton, West Virginia; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Ray, Bob, Jim and Larry Wolfe.
