John Alan Young

John Young, 61 (born 18 August 1962), beloved husband and friend, left this planet on 27 May 2023 headed for space and parts unknown. John had just as many identities as he had funny remarks and caring companions. He was, over the years, known as Moose, Vardor Stormdragon, and the Evil Genius, among other nicknames. John’s favorite activities always revolved around his wife Katalin; she was his rock as much as he was hers. They were married for 14 years. Always witty, kind, and reliable, John never said a bad word about anyone. It is worth noting that, in addition to Kat, John had five childhood friends from Marion, Ohio with him over his final days, pals for approximately 50 years, each. Naturally, he also had other friends in regular attendance. He was an avid and accomplished modeler, airbrush artist, game enthusiast, Kzin aficionado, and a devotee of science fiction books, television shows, and movies, with a special liking for all things Star Trek. He was preceded in death by his mother, Iva Lee Hashenberger, and his father, Alva Newton Young. He is survived by his loving wife, Katalin; and his brother, Alva Young, and sister, Pat Whetro.
