Jon G. Powers, Sr.

Afuneral service celebrating the life of Jon G. Powers, Sr., age 67, of Gahanna, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 2, at the Kirkersville home of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service with Andrew Hoover as Celebrant. Burial will take place in Millersport Cemetery.Jon was born September 2, 1946 in Columbus, Ohio to the late George Ray and Mary Lou (Gainey) Powers. He passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Mount Carmel East Hospital.Jon was a 1965 graduate of Bexley High School and served for several years in the Ohio National Guard. He was a carpenter by trade and, most recently, was employed as a resident manager with Baker Rental. Jon enjoyed bowling, NASCAR and stock car races, tractor pulls and enjoyed going to classic car shows. He also enjoyed fishing and boating and was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes.He is survived by his wife, Charlotte A. (Eisel) Powers, whom he married November 23, 1985; and by four children, Jon G. (Paula) Powers, Jr. of Pickerington, Debbie (Ed) Fisher of Millersport, Donna (Steve) Evans of Columbus and Todd (Jen) Eisel of Gahanna; eight grandchildren, Jon G. Powers III, Jordan Powers, Jarrett Powers, Josh (Jen) Fisher, Julie Fisher, Stephan Evans Kimber Bragg and Mason Evans; five great-grandchildren, Lariah, Kylee, Kaylee, Chase and Alexis; a sister, LeAnne Young of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Powers.Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, at the funeral home, 285 East Main Street, Kirkersville.Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service is honored to care for the Powers family.
