Joseph Frank Durthaler

Joseph Frank Durthaler, age 72, of Newark, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio).

Joe was born January 13, 1946 in Whitehall, Ohio to the late Warren and Gertrude (Schaffer) Durthaler. Joe was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired from the Newark Air Force Base and was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #387. At one time he had his own band and enjoyed playing the drums.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy E. (Dowell) Durthaler, whom he married July 4, 2003; daughters, Wendy and Sharon; one grandchild; two brothers, Ron and Mike; and a sister, Sherry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Warren Durthaler.

A memorial gathering will be held at a later date at the Newark Eagles.
