Joseph R. Bowlby

A funeral service, celebrating the life of Joseph R. Bowlby, age 72, of St. Louisville, will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, with Pastor Mark Pierce officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Glenford.Joseph was born in Columbus on February 15, 1944 to the late Clarence and Clarice (Hutchinson) Bowlby. He passed away at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio on April 13, 2016.Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Prior to retirement, he worked at Owens-Corning Fiberglas for 30 years. He was a member of the Death Winds Long Rifle Club, and the GMP Local #244. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and spending time with his family and friends.Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Nancy L. (Arbogast) Bowlby, whom he married August 17, 1964; children, Russell L. Bowlby, Douglas (Patricia) Bowlby, James Bowlby and Kimberly Bowlby; grandchildren, Deanna, Brittany, Joe, Kaine, Heather, Autumn, Shyanna, Tarra, Kaiden, Micha and Dakota; brother, Jim; sisters, Edith and Grace; eight grandchildren; special nephew and caretaker, Charles Osborn; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by daughter, Kira Davis; grandson, Nicholas Bowlby; sister, Loretta Lowe; and brothers, David and Carl Bowlby.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Joseph to Foundation For Hospice of Central Ohio, PO Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058-0430.Family will receive friends at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, on Monday, April 18, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Joseph and his family.
