Juanita D. Shortridge

    A funeral service, celebrating the life of Juanita D. McKenzie Shortridge, 101, of Port Charlotte, FL, will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Kirkersville chapel of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, with Pastor Matt VanWinkle officiating.  Burial will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 285 E. Main Street, Kirkersville, one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Juanita was born in Vinton County, Ohio on December 17, 1917 to the late Rev. Glen Roy and Blanche Olive (Johnson) Appleman.  She passed away at Solaris HealthCare in Port Charlotte, FL on December 22, 2018. Prior to retirement, Juanita, along with her husband, owned and operated a dry cleaning business. She was a devoted homemaker to her family and she loved spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her children, Gary (Linda) McKenzie, Joy (Jim) Schmitt and Betty (Tim) Rees; sister, Marie Gaffin; nine grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Arnold McKenzie; second husband, William R. Shortridge; son, Mark McKenzie; and brother, Cecil Appleman.
