Judith Kathryn "Judy" De Vore

Judith Kathryn “Judy” De Vore, age 80, of Granville, Ohio, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021 at Otterbein Granville. Judy was born October 2, 1941 in Aberdeen, Washington to the late Gerald Joseph and Ann Vance (Apple) Schafer.

Judy was a 1959 graduate of Weatherwax Senior High School (also known as Aberdeen High School) and went on to attend Stanford University. She received a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Oregon. Judy was a Senior Programmer Analyst and retired in 2011 from Denison University where she was the Director of Computer Services.

In retirement, Judy spent many happy hours at the Licking County Community Center playing Bridge and Dominos and visiting with friends. She enjoyed computers, computer games, reading comics (especially Mother Goose and Grimm) and watching Netflix.

She is survived by two children, Andrei (Kerry) De Vore of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Patricia Ann “Annie” Dow of Tucson, Arizona; brother, Ralph (Diane) Schafer of Ramona, California; nephew, Andrew Schafer; and niece, Angela Keller.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Ann Elizabeth Schafer.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street in Newark, Ohio.

A graveside inurnment service will take place at Noon on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen, Washington, where Judy will be laid to rest in the Schafer family plot.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Licking County Community Center, P.O. Box 257, Granville, OH 43023.
