Judith M. Emerson (Judy), 84, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2023 following a five year struggle with Alzheimer's Dementia. She was the daughter of H. Lee and Gladys (Reelhorn) Emerson.
Judy attended Kirkersville schools all her life and graduated in the first class at Watkins Memorial High School in 1956.
She worked for Westfield Insurance Company as an underwriter.
Judy found her true labor of love when she attended a Mary Kay party and seized the opportunity to make some extra money. That decision to sell some cosmetics turned into a 42 year career where Judy met life long friends, touched the lives of thousands of women and found her dream job. Over the 42 years, Judy earned 11 Mary Kay cars, even a couple of pink Cadillacs. She reached Senior Director status and managed a group of wonderful team members that became her Mary Kay family.
Judy was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and loyal to everyone she met. Survived by Kelly (Dennis) Smith, Dublin, Jeff Cole, St. Thomas VI, Kim (Chris) McBee, Hinckley. Grandchildren Erika (Andrew) Fogel, Lyndsey McBee, Nick Smith (Alexia Koerkenmeier), Madison McBee, Kyle McBee. Great grandson Caleb Fogel. Ken Cole, father of her children. Niece Sally Newkirk, several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Emma Jean Emerson, Rosa Lee Newkirk, nephew Richard Newkirk, and brother-in-law Harold Newkirk.
Judy embraced the basic tenant of Mary Kay Cosmetics. God First, Family Second and Career Third. Judy’s life long connection to each of her church communities brought her much strength, devotion and spirituality. Judy was a substitute pianist and organist at several of her churches. Her church community was family to her too.
Family will receive friends Thursday, February 9 th from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Kirkersville home of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service 285 E. Main St., Kirkersville where funeral services celebrating her life will follow on Friday, February 10 th at 11 am. Judy will be laid to rest with her family in the Kirkersville Cemetery following the service.
