Karen Kay Jordan, 77, of Thornville, passed away peacefully, October 26, 2020, at home following an extended battle with cancer. Her family was at her side. Karen was born October 25, 1943 in New Boston, Ohio, the daughter of the late Robert Messer and Betty (Jones) Hall.
She was a graduate of Glenwood H.S., New Boston, Ohio, class of 1961. She was a homemaker until her children went to school, and then she worked for over 15 years as a school secretary in the Columbus Public Schools, including working at Oakmont Elementary and Eakin Rd. Schools. She loved the children and formed close relationships with the staff.
Karen Loved sewing, quilting and made beautiful baby clothing. She volunteered for an organization called “Touching Little Lives” and sewed beautiful items for infants and children to be buried in.
Her grandsons were her pride and joy and she loved spending time with them. Following Russell’s retirement from the Columbus Police Department, they traveled extensively in their fifth-wheel throughout the southern United States.
She is survived by her loving family: Her husband of 57 years, Russell C. Jordan, whom she married on May 30, 1963 in Portsmouth, Ohio; her children Michael (Maria) Jordan and Wendy Jordan; her grandsons Michael Chase and Mason James Jordan; her sisters Paula Coyle, Rhonda (Doug) Bentley, Gail (Bryan) Fraley; her brother Dale (Thassanee) Hall; along with many nieces and nephews, and her life-long friend Sandy Lewis.
Friends may call at the THORNVILLE home of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, 56 South Main Street in Thornville on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Graveside Funeral Services will follow on Friday, October 30, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. in the Franklin Hills Memory Gardens, Canal Winchester, with Pastor Jeremy Shank as celebrant. Due to COVID 19 please wear masks at all times inside the funeral home and practice social distancing at all times.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be directed to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O. Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
