Katherine J. Cole

A funeral service celebrating the life of Katherine J. Cole, age 84, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Wynn officiating. Entombment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery.Katherine was born June 22, 1931 in Newark, Ohio to the late Eugene and Elsie (Jennings) Cole. She passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehab in Newark.Katherine was a 1949 graduate of Newark High School and attended Ohio University. She started the first LEADS Headstart Program in Newark and retired from the Columbus Metropolitan Area Community Action Organization Headstart Program where she had been an Educational Specialist.Katherine was a member of the Trinity A.M.E. Church in Newark where she had been a Sunday School teacher and a member of Stewardess Board #2. She was also a member of the Juliette Federated Club. Katherine was a very creative person and enjoyed music, singing, working with children and crafts.She is survived by a daughter, Katherine Victoria Vici Coleman-Bolton of Falls Church, Virginia; grandson, Tron Bolton of Falls Church, Virginia; sister, Eugenia Cole of Newark; several cousins and many friends.Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Katherine and her family.
