Kenneth Edward Boone

Funeral services, celebrating the life of Kenneth Edward Boone, 90, of Thornville, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service. Burial with full military honors by the Licking Co. Veterans Alliance will follow in the Lutheran Cemetery, Linnville Pike, where he will be buried next to his wife Katherine.

Kenneth died Thursday, March 4, 2021 in Newark following a brief illness. He was born in Harrison Co. W.V., the son of the late Denver and Floda Belle (Illison) Boone. He served honorably in the US Army during the Korean conflict, and retired after 34 years at Kaiser Aluminum.

He enjoyed playing cards, throwing dice and above all fishing. He also enjoyed planting and caring for a large garden every summer.

He is survived by his family, his sons Kenneth J. (Rosie), Bill (Melody), Daniel (Linda Williams) and Rick (Bobbi) Boone, along with his grandson Josh (Kelly) Boone and their children Avery, Finley, Harper and Brooks; step-son Gary Grigsby. He is also survived by his loving friend Betty Mazey, with whom he made his home for the last 13 years, who lovingly cared for Kenneth allowing him to remain at his home. His good friends Johnny and Rose Barrett also survive him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Katherine, his sister Joyce McClain, his infant granddaughter Katherine Darlene Boone and her mother Darlene Back Boone and his grandson Ryan Boone.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, March 9, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 285 East Main St. in Kirkersville. In order to comply with COVID 19 guidelines, a limit of 30 persons will be enforced and masks must be worn inside the funeral home at all times.

The family prefers that expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial contributions be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
