Kenneth John Spivey, 63, of Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Newark, Ohio, passed away at his local residence in Newark on January 28, 2021. He was born in Newark on July 31, 1957 to the late Robert L. and Julia B. “Sally” (Anderson) Spivey. Prior to retirement, he was in telecommunications with State Farm over 30 years, retiring in 2018. He was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Kenneth enjoyed traveling, especially going to the beach, reading, astronomy, was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and “Yes, I’m a Browns Fan!” Family was most important in Kenneth’s life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will always be known for his great smile. Survivors include his loving wife of 18 years, Ethel J. (Beasley) Spivey, whom he married May 24, 2003; children, Kenneth Beasley, Kaleena (Daniel) Gross, Kassandra Beasley, Kaleesa (Rohn Francis) Spivey and Jade Lovell; grandchildren, Jaden Lovell-Smith, Kash Benson, Dimira Smith, Ziona McMillion and Kaja Benson; brothers, Henry (Lillian) Spivey, Willie (Marian) Spivey, Russell (Michele) Spivey, Lester Spivey and Arnold “Robert” Spivey; sisters, Juanita Lewis and Janice (John) Benissan; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Spivey; and sister, Rosa Spivey. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Kenneth to Foundation For Hospice of Central Ohio or the American Cancer Society. Private services will be held for the family at a later date.
