A funeral service celebrating the life of Larry “Bill” Bailey, Sr. will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, with Pastor Robert Whightsel officiating. Military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, on Friday, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Bill was born in Newark, Ohio on January 3, 1947 to the late Nellie (Whyde) Bailey and Robert E. Bailey, who survives. He passed away at Licking Memorial Hospital on December 12, 2021. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army. Prior to retirement, he was a truck driver for many years. He was a former member of the Heath Eagles Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing bingo and spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his father, survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Debbie A. (Vangundy) Bailey, whom he married August 27, 1983; son, Larry (Jeanne) Bailey, Jr.; daughter, Frances Bailey; brother, Jamie Bailey; sisters, Myra (Jeff Whightsel) Bailey, Sue (Dave) Cunningham and Debbie (Ken) Branham; grandchildren, Ashley, Gracie, Kyle, LeAnn and Tomya; great grandchildren, Carla, Hazel, Tobey, Raelyn and Ella; loving dog, Minnie; and numerous nieces, nephews cousins and friends. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Russell Bailey; great grandson, Dillon Keeton; sister, Terri Rose Bailey; and paternal grandfather, James Lester Bailey.
