A funeral service, celebrating the life of Lawrence Hugh Taylor, Jr., 68 of Pleasantville, will be held at 11:00 a.m, on Monday, March 16, 2015, in the chapel of the Thornville home of HOSKINSON Funeral & Cremation Service, withPhil George as celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow in the New Salem Cemetery. Larry died early Monday, March 9, 2015 in Lancaster. He was born in Elmira, New York, the son of the late Lawrence H. Taylor Sr. and Opal Naomi (Davenport) Taylor who survives. He served honorably in the US Navy during the Vietnam era. He retired after over thirty years of service at Anchor Hocking in Lancaster. He was the co-owner of the Old Town Diner in New Salem. He was a member of the Pleasantville American Legion and the Thornport Amvets. Larry is survived by his family: which in addition to his mother includes his wife Peggy (Wyeth) Taylor, whom he married on June 22, 1996, son Josh Taylor, brother Charlie Taylor and sister Jerry (Larry) Turner, brothers-in-law Tim Poling and Clyde Pinkstock. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brothers Ernest Jack Grandominico, John Taylor, sister-in-law Judy Taylor, and sisters Ramona Poling and Elizabeth Pinkstock. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, 56 S. Main St. in Thornville, on Sunday, March 15, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. The family prefers that memorial contributions in his memory be directed to the Pleasantville post of the American Legion.
