Lawrence Dale "Larry" Kerns, Sr.

A funeral service honoring the life of Lawrence Dale “Larry” Kerns, Sr., age 65, of Pataskala, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 21, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Clifford Mason officiating.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark. Due to Covid-19 concerns masks are required inside the funeral home and please practice social distancing.

Larry was born October 7, 1955 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Paul and Marie Esther (Hall) Kerns. He passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Ohio State University Hospital East.

Larry was a caregiver for many years for mentally handicapped individuals. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and puzzle books, watching gameshows and cartoons, especially Scooby Doo, and playing video games, especially Spyro the Dragon.

He is survived by four sons, Russell H. (Andrea) Kerns of Pataskala, Zachary B. Kerns of Columbus, David (Nicole) Oatney of White Pine, Tennessee, and Lawrence “Dale” Kerns, Jr.; many grandchildren; brother, Paul Kerns of Lancaster; sisters, Jean (Jack) Lepley of Newark and Doris Jelenik of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Amelia (Neely) Kerns, who passed away on July 16, 2015; and siblings, Barbara, Debra, Duane, Donna, Steve and Charlene.
