Lemuel “Lee” McCarty, 82 of Newark, passed away at Licking Memorial Hospital on January 19, 2021. Lee was born in Greenup County, Kentucky on February 3, 1938 to the late Sherman Doc and Gertrude (Ison) McCarty. Lee was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Prior to retirement, he worked at Lucent Technologies, Kentucky Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway for many years. He enjoyed camping, feeding the wildlife, watching NASCAR, watching football and WWE. Most important was the time Lee spent with his loving family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Judith E. (Jenderny) McCarty, whom he married May 21, 1960; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Joann McCarty; daughter and son-in-law, Susan (Ken) Kimbler; grandchildren, Joshua McCarty, Joel McCarty, Maryane Kimbler, Rustey (Amanda) Kimbler and Jason Teater; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In additional to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Eva Harris; and brothers, Homer McCarty and Luther McCarty. Private family services will be held at a later date. The McCarty family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff at the Licking Memorial Hospital COVID ICU unit, and also special friends, Karla and Duane Searfos, and Melissa Wolfe for all of the love and support during this difficult time.
