Leroy William "Ike" Aikey, age 85, of Newark, passed away at his sons residence on December 3, 2014. He was born in Milton, PA on September 15, 1929 to the late Roy and Amanda (Heintzelman) Aikey.Leroy had resided in Newark for the past seven years, formerly of Youngstown. Prior to retirement, he was a heavy equipment operator with Republic Steel in Youngstown for 36 years. He was a member of St. Dominics Catholic Church in Youngstown; retired member of New Middletown Sportsmans Club; and VFW, Post 93 in Youngstown. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on the family farm and especially loved spending time with his family.Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruth (Kraynak) Aikey; daughters, Sheryl Keslar of Boardman, OH and Lorraine (Bob) Dedo of Poland, OH; son, Roy (Jennifer) Aikey of Newark; grandchildren, Lisa (Dedo) Doll, Bobby Dedo, Rachael (Dedo) Underhill, Troy Keslar, Nikole Keslar, Courtney Aikey, Roy Aikey Jr. and Kennedy Aikey; seven great grandchildren; family pet, Zorro; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Mabel, Florence, Irene, Edna and Betty Jane; and brothers, Willard and Warren.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Leroy to Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, PO Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058-0430.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for the Aikey family.
