Funeral services celebrating the life of Lester K. Lynd, 69, of Pataskala, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2022, in Grace Fellowship Church, 1449 Refugee Rd, Pickerington. Burial will follow Tuesday December 6, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Kirkersville Cemetery; where Lester will be laid to rest. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral services at 7:00 p.m.

Lester died suddenly Wednesday afternoon, November 30, 2022, at his residence. He was born August 31, 1953, In Columbus, the son of the late Arnold I. and Dorothea H (Reelhorn) Lynd. He was a graduate of Northridge H.S., class of 1971, Michigan State University 1973 with a A.A.S. in Agriculture and Horticulture. He returned home to work with his family on Lynd’s Fruit farm, where they grew apples, peaches, plums, and berries. Under his leadership the family also started The Market at Lynd’s Fruit Farm, and he sourced the produce for that business. An active member of the Pataskala community, he was a former member of Hosanna Lutheran Church where he was active in the men’s golf league; Pataskala Lions Club, and coached soccer for many years. He also worked as the scorekeeper for the Watkins Memorial girls' basketball program for many years. He also loved talking and would go out of his way to engage others in conversation. He possessed a gift of being genuinely happy to see others.

Lester served as president of the Ohio Fruit Growers Marketing Association; and was inducted into the Ohio Agriculture Hall of Fame in 2011.

He is survived by his loving family: his wife, the former Marcia Ridenour, whom he married on November 8, 1975; his sons Brian (Amanda) Lynd and Scott Lynd, his grandchildren: Julia, Haylie, Jayden, Jack, Miranda, Jaxon and Eppie; his brothers Mitchell (Penny) Lynd, David (Deborah) Lynd and his sister Brenda Schostag along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Chad Lynd.

The family prefers that memorial contributions be directed to Ohio Association of Food Banks, 100 E Broad St., Suite 501, Columbus, Ohio 43215; to assist them in their efforts to relieve food insecurity in Ohio. Envelopes will be available at the church.
