A funeral service celebrating the life of Lester Lee Powers, 92, of Newark, will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery with military honored will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark on Thursday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, masks must be worn inside the funeral home and for your protection, a maximum of 35 guests will be allowed inside at one time. Please practice social distancing. Lester was born in Brownsville, Ohio on July 9, 1928 to the late O. Herman and Martha A. (Wiseman) Powers. He passed away on January 31, 2021. Lester proudly served his country in the United States Army. Prior to retirement, he was a welder for many years. Lester enjoyed photography, breeding dogs, hunting, fishing and he was an exceptional woodworker. Survivors include his children, Richard (Peggy) Powers, Mary Hupp and Teresa Robb; sisters, Dolores Adams, Margaret Metzen and Naomi Loucks; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth McConnell. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Lester to FairHope Hospice.
