A funeral service, celebrating the life of Lewis Scott Bam Henry, age 50, of Glenford, will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Heath Church of Christ, 1331 Chapel Way, Heath, with Greg Robbins and Dave Mason officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens.Family will receive friends at the Heath Church of Christ on Thursday, May 12 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m.Bam was born in Newark, Ohio to Lewis D. and Vicky L. (Gorsuch) Henry. He passed away at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville on May 9, 2016.Bam graduated from Heath High School, Class of 1984; received his Bachelors Degree from Denison University; and his Masters Degree from Marygrove College. He was a teacher at Lakewood High School for three years and was currently teaching at Heath High School, for over 22 years, where he coached football, baseball, basketball and golf. He was a member of Mensa International, was a NOAA weather spotter and was an amateur radio operator. Bam enjoyed traveling, train watching, was a military history buff, but most important in his life, was spending time with his loving wife, children and extended family.Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Michele R. (Witalec) Henry, whom he married July 14, 1990; daughter, Brittany Henry; son, Major Henry; sister, Lynn (Shaun) Phipps; niece, Lindsay Phipps; nephew, Tyler Phipps; great niece, Mya Phipps; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.He is preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Betty Witalec; uncle, John Gorsuch; maternal grandparents, Betty and Bill Gorsuch; and paternal grandparents, Jesse and Hazel Henry.Bam gave the gift of life by being an organ and tissue donor.
