Lillie R. "Lil" Shaw

Lillie R. Shaw, fondly known as "Lil," passed away at the age of 75 on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Grant Medical Center. Born on September 28, 1949, in the close-knit community of Abbeville, Mississippi, Lil was the daughter of the late Thadish "Boots" Shaw and the late Fleader (McGee) Shaw.

Lil dedicated much of her life to the care and well-being of her family. Although she spent several years working in production at the Holophane Corp., her true calling was as a homemaker. Lil's talent for creating a warm and nurturing home was unmatched, and she will be remembered for her generous and loving spirit.

Lil’s interests included shopping, leisurely walks, and playing games, with a special fondness for Mario. Her joy and laughter lit up the lives of those who knew her, leaving behind cherished memories.

Lil is survived by her loving family: her children, Anthony (Donna) Smith of Buckeye Lake, Latonya Smith and Eric Smith, both of Newark; her adoring grandchildren, Rashad, Stephan, Tristan, Zander, Liliana, Shayla, and Samara. She also leaves behind a devoted brother, Willie Shaw and his wife Donna of Newark; sisters, Dorothy Bowie and Inella Jones, both of Mississippi; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Lil was preceded in death by her sisters, Sarah Shaw, Maddie Shaw, and Anna White.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Lil's life on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 2-5 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.
