Linda Raye Shaeffer

Belinda Raye Shaeffer, 72, of Thornville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 11, 2024 in the ER at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark. She was born November 29, 1951 in Ironton, the daughter of the late Raymond and Aileen “Midge” (Warneke) Binion.

She was a graduate of Sheridan H.S. and Ohio University and retired after 37 years as an educator with Northern Local Schools, having taught many years at Glenford and finishing her career at Sheridan H.S., as the special education intervention specialist.

An active member of the community, Linda was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Gamma Sigma chapter of the women in Education honorary sorority; Thornville Chapter #156, Order of Eastern Star, Perry Co. Retired Teachers, Wednesday Ladies league at Whitetail Ridge golf course, Amvets Post 51 Ladies Auxiliary and Buckeye Lake Moose Lodge at Thornport.

Linda is survived by her loving family: her husband Glen, whom she married on June 15, 1974, her daughter Tiffany Shaeffer, son Brian (Tami) Shaeffer; stepdaughter Lynn (Delio) Gutierrez, along with Lynn’s son Brandon.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her brother Darryl “Randy” Binion.

Linda was a breast cancer survivor, and the family would like for memorial contributions in her memory to be directed to the Perry County Cancer Alliance c/o Patty Hayes at Peoples National Bank, 14806 Zion Rd, PO Box, Thornville, Ohio 43076.

Friends may call on Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. at the Thornville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, 56. South Main St in Thornville, and again on Friday from 10-11 a.m., where funeral services celebrating her life will follow at 11:00 am, with burial to follow in the Olivet Cemetery.
