Linda Jayne Smith

A funeral service celebrating the life of Linda Jayne Smith, age 77, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Burial will take place in Newark Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service at the church, 2486 Newark Granville Road, Granville.

Linda was born August 29, 1947 in Lima, Ohio to the late Harold Pfeifer Herr and the late Betty Jane (Jackson) Herr. She passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024 at the OSU Wexner Medical Center.

Linda ran her own daycare and loved children. She also enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles, and baking. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Surviving are six children, Jason (Christine) Smith, Ryan (Denise) Smith, Derek (Heather) Smith, Travis Smith, Evan Smith, and Cecelia Smith; grandchildren, Samsonite, Kristin, Aric, Katie, and Hayden; sisters, Colleen Knerr and Gloria Boroff; step-sister, Janice Merritt; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Dennis Smith, in 2013; and by two sisters, Nancy Metcalf and Cheryl Jones.
