Linda Alice Taggart

A funeral service celebrating the life of Linda Alice Taggart, age 83, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 20, at the Kirkersville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Jeff Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Kirkersville Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, at the funeral home, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville.

Linda was born February 18, 1940 in Landes, Illinois to the late Maurice and Opal (Curry) Howell. She passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at the Inn at SharonBrooke Assisted Living. Linda was employed as a school cook for many years, first at Kirkersville Elementary and then as head cook at Etna Elementary. She was then employed at Cardinal Foods in Pataskala where she was a meat cutter and later with Abercrombie and Fitch as a merchandise processor. She was a member of the Buckeye Lake Eagles #2801. Linda enjoyed sewing, cake decorating, camping, dancing, reading, and playing Bingo. She also enjoyed “Happy Hour” every now and then with her daughters.

She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Samuel Rock of Hebron and Alyce and Kevin Browning of Newark; grandchildren, Dawn (Zack) Berghoefer, Shawn Browning, Josh (Ashley) Browning, and Caleb Rock; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, JoAnn McKnight of Newark; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Taggart; two brothers, Francis and Raymond Howell; and three sisters, Ellen Baker, Wanda Alexander, and Bonnie Baker.
