Lona Mae Taggart

Funeral services, celebrating the life of Lona Mae (Smith) Taggart, 84, of Hebron, will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 in the chapel of The Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, with Clifford Mason as celebrant. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, 285 E Main St. in Kirkersville.

Lona passed away December 13, 2021 in Lancaster after a brief illness. She was born in Newark on November 5, 1937 the daughter of the late Paul and Nora (Crosby) Smith. She was a graduate of Granville H.S., class of 1956, and was a full time homemaker. She loved babysitting, reading and gardening.

Lona is survived by her loving family: daughter Patricia Mason, son Michael (Mindy) Taggart, her siblings Ruth Ann Winski, Bruce (Angie) Smith, Nelson (Kim) Smith, Kathy Smith; her grandchildren Nick (Kim) Mason, Sarah ( Steven) Cooper, Michelle (Joey) Colopy, Kristin (Nick) Banschbach, Courtney Taggart; her 9 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Wilma Majors, Darrell and Ronnie Smith, her son-in-law Terry Mason and great grandson Elijah Colopy.

The family prefers that memorial contributions be directed to FairHoPe Hospice, 282 Sells Rd. Lancaster, Ohio 43130. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
