Lorna Mauger Knilans

Lorna M. Knilans, age 95, of Harbor Hills, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018. She was preceded in death, in 2015, by her husband of 72 years Richard S. Knilans, her parents L.S. and Naomi Mauger, her brother Howard (Shirley) Mauger and sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Patricia (Ed) Kramer, Michael (Anne) Knilans and Barbara (Paul) Wetzel. Survived by her son Randy (Patty) Knilans and daughter Kyle Knilans; grandchildren Becky (Jack) Gilchrist and Brad Knilans; great grandchildren Keegan, Liam and Isla Gilchrist; three cousins and many special nieces and nephews. Lorna was born and raised in Columbus and graduated from East High School, where she was a member of the Homecoming Court in 1941, and The Ohio State University in 1944. After graduation she worked for the U.S.D.A. Processed Products. After Dick returned from WWII in late 1945, she worked for Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric. She postponed her career to raise her family and then worked for Columbus Public Schools as a Home Economics teacher. Lorna was a charter member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, a Children’s Hospital TWIG member and a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, entertaining, gardening, and sewing. Traveling across the US and England, and driving her three Corvettes. The family would like to thank Ted and Bob and all of the thoughtful neighbors from Harbor Hills and close friends Marty and Tom. Lorna’s philosophy was “If I was organized I would be dangerous!” The family prefers, if desired, that memorials be directed to The Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O. Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058. A Funeral service, celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018, in the chapel of The Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, with burial following in Glen Rest Memorial Estates, Reynoldsburg. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, November 15, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville.
