Lowell Wilderman

Lowell A. Wilderman of Etna, Ohio, formerly of Greenville, Illinois, passed away following a heart attack at home in Ohio. In keeping with Lowell's wishes there will be no public visitation or funeral. He will be cremated and his ashes placed in the Ocean he loved so much. For those who desire memorials may be made to Lowell's family at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Lowell Arthur Wilderman Sr, the son of Walter Eugene and Ida Viola Jernigan Wilderman, was born on August 11, 1949 in Highland. He was raised here in Greenville and attended the Keyesport shcools the first two years, Central School the next three years and then Greenville Elementary School and graduated from Greenville High School in 1967. Lowell worked for Dorris Standard Station after high school before he entered the Navy. He answered his country's call by joining the United States Navy in 1969 serving for 22 years. He rose to the rank of E-7 receiving the following Medals: Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (4), Navy Expeditionary Medal (2), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Navy Achevement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Fifth Good Conduct Award for period ending 89APR07, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, and the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on April 30, 1990. serving 22 years 5 months and 19 days. He returned to Greenville where he began a career as an over the road truck driver for Schneider Trucking working until his retirement again in 2008. Lowell is survived by his three children: Lowell A. "Chet" (Michelle) Wilderman Jr. of Smithboro, Bryan J. Wilderman of Greenville, Bridgette L. Wilderman, serving overseas in Okinawa, sister Arlene (Gary) Sackett, and four grandchildren: Austin, Aaron, Morgan and Grant Wilderman. Lowell is preceded in death by his parents and infant sister Cleda Eilene Wilderman at birth.
