Luis Angel Irizarry-Romero

A funeral service for Luis Angel Irizarry-Romero, age 60, of Newark, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Father Bill Hritsko officiating. Burial will take place at Wilson Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Luis was born June 14, 1962 in Lares, Puerto Rico to the late Victoriano Irizarry-Caban and the late Eria Martinez-Romero. He passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio).

Luis enjoyed mechanic work and loved dogs, especially his dog, Tito. He had a generous heart and was always helping people and had his door open for anyone in need.

He is survived by his loving family: three children, Angelia T. (Chris) Saxton of Heath, Luis Angel (Zoey) Irizarry-Romero II of Heath, and Natasha E. Irizarry-Romero Scanlan of Newark; five grandsons and two granddaughters; brothers and sisters, Victor Irizarry-Romero of Elizabeth, New Jersey, Adelaida Soto of Orlando, Florida, Cristobal Irizarry of Tampa, Florida, Milania Martinez, Wilson Martinez-Romero, Wilfredo Martinez, Angelita Martinez, and George Luis Martinez, all of Newark, New Jersey, Ivette Irizarry of Brandon, Florida, Rosie Irizarry and Delia McLean, both of Newark, New Jersey; many nieces and nephews; fiancée, Nancy Fraizer; and close friend, Melody Dye.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jose Luis Martinez and Daniel Morales.
