A funeral service celebrating the life of Marguerite Olive Mae (Johns) Sullivan, age 57, of Newark, fondly known as “Maggie” or “Sissy”, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.
Maggie was born October 20, 1965 in Newark, Ohio. She passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Licking Memorial Hospital.
Maggie was a 1984 graduate of Newark High School. For many years she worked in management at both Domino’s Pizza and Papa John’s. She was also formerly employed at the Duke Station on Union Street. Maggie was an active member of the Neal Avenue United Methodist Church where she volunteered in cooking, cleaning, helping with dinners, and delivering meals for the church. A big part of her life was helping people and serving others. She loved her entire family dearly and especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin Mark Sullivan, Sr., whom she married on July 12, 1988; three sons, William Brian Sullivan of Newark, Sergeant First Class Kevin Mark Sullivan, Jr. – United States Army of San Antonio, Texas, and James Francis Sullivan of Zanesville; grandchildren, Caydin Brien Sullivan, James F. Sullivan, Jr., Chloe Rose Sullivan, and Ryan Nicholas Sullivan; her mother, Virginia Darlene (Hitchcock) Johns of Newark; five brothers, Scott Hitchcock, Phil Johns, Harry (Kathy) Johns, Mark Johns, and Robert Johns, all of Newark; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Maggie was preceded in death by her father, Henry Phillip Johns; and by maternal grandparents, James D. and Helen O. Bush.
