A funeral service celebrating the life of Margaret A. Peg Palm, age 89, of Hebron, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Tim Mason officiating. Burial will take place in Newark Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 on Wednesday, February 1, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark.Peg was born November 5, 1927 in Masontown, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph and Hazel (Dunlap) Schmitt. She passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio).Peg was a 1945 graduate of Newark High School. She was a member of St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church in Newark, the Hetuck Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, was a volunteer with the Licking County Genealogical Society and was a poll worker for many years where she was a presiding judge. She had a knack for picking NFL game winners in the family football pool and enjoyed crocheting, traveling, playing Scrabble and Yahtzee and loved history and genealogy.She is survived by her children, Janice (Don) Mason of Hebron, Carol Palm of Hebron, Mike (Georgetta) Palm of Clermont, FL, Cathy Chavez of Nine Mile Falls, WA, Doug (June) Palm of Newark, Greg (Becky) Palm of Moline, IL, Amy (Sam) Totino of Chesterland, Sally Palm of Gahanna, Charles (Lisa) Palm of Conway, SC and Edward Palm of Hebron; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Rita Manson of Heath and Marge Schmitt of Toboso; numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Palm, whom she married on June 26, 1947; and by two sons, Lawrence Palm and Dean Palm; six brothers and one sister.Memorial contributions may be made to the Licking County Genealogical Society.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Peg and the Palm family.
