A private graveside service celebrating the life of Margaret Irene Dudgeon, age 85, of Newark, will be held at Lutheran Cemetery with Pastor Rusty Foley officiating.Margaret was born July 27, 1931 in Newark, Ohio to the late John Melvin and Sarah Irene (Thomas) Taylor. She passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Kindred Healthcare of Newark.Margaret was a 1949 graduate of Newark High School and was actively involved in the planning of the class reunions. She retired from Catholic Social Services where she had worked for 15 years and was the coordinator of the volunteer escort services. Margaret was a self-taught cake decorator since 1958 and was well known for her beautiful cakes. She taught cake decorating classes at the JVS for many years. She was active at Zerger (Heritage) Hall and helped with the volunteer tax program. She served on the Safe Communities Task Force and was also on the boards of the Central Ohio Agency on Aging and the Alzheimers Association. Margaret enjoyed painting, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, Sudoku and was an avid mushroom hunter and enjoyed growing them as well. She was a wonderful cook and loved trying new recipes and cooking for her family.She is survived by three children, Steven (Terry) Dudgeon of Titusville, Florida, Alice Sally (Chris) Keefe and David (Linda) Dudgeon, all of Newark; eight grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Eugene Dudgeon, on May 26, 1982; and by a brother, Lee Alfonzo Taylor; and her step-mother, Orpha Alice (Hatfield) Taylor.In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorial contributions to remember Margaret may be made to a charity of ones choice.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Margaret and her family.
