A memorial service celebrating the life of Marie Elizabeth (Diener) Sinsabaugh, age 88, of Granville, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, at Kendal at Granville, 2158 Columbus Road, Granville.Marie was born November 15, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Gottlieb John and Tess (Rosepal) Diener. She passed away peacefully on Monday, August 15, 2016.Marie received a Bachelors Degree in 1949 from The Ohio State University School of Nursing. In September of 1949 she married Charles F. Sinsabaugh and was office manager for Newark Family Physicians for 30 years. In 1981 she taught part-time at COTC in the nursing department and then moved to Columbus in 1984 to attend OSU, receiving her Masters Degree in 1987. She was then employed with the Ohio Department of Health for six and a half years. Following her retirement, she moved to New Smyrna Beach, Florida and attended the Reese Institute of Massage Therapy and became a licensed massage therapist. She worked for the Curative Massage Facility part-time. She also volunteered at the Arts on Douglas Gallery for ten years and was a member of the steering committee for the First Community Unitarian Church of Daytona Beach.In May of 2005 she moved to Kendal at Granville and was a volunteer with the Granville Historical Society, Dawes Arboretum and was a board member of the Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra. Marie was past-president of The Monday Talks, member of the Progressive Club and was a volunteer with the Red Cross Bloodmobile, the Infant Stimulation Program and the Girl Scouts. She was a talented seamstress and made nine wedding dresses and the associated bridesmaid dresses. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed world travel, needlework, gardening, music and reading.She is survived by five children, Susan Elizabeth Edwards (Roy), Kathryn Louise France (Eric), Nancy Sinsabaugh, Barbara Ann Tolman (Gerald) and Joseph Charles Sinsabaugh (Sharon); grandchildren, Sarah, Philip and Christopher Edwards, David and Daniel France, Henry Heinerscheid, Elizabeth and Jennifer Tolman and Sylvia Sinsabaugh; great-grandchildren, Josiah Edwards and Colin and Brooke Heinerscheid; brother, Carl Diener, M.D. (Elke) of Tucson, AZ; and a sister, Ida Cuthbertson of Sarasota, FL.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Diener.Memorial contributions may be made to the Marie Sinsabaugh Scholarship Fund in care of the COTC Nursing Program, 1179 University Drive, Newark, OH 43055 or to the Marie Sinsabaugh Designated Fund at the Dawes Arboretum, 7770 Jacksontown Road SE, Heath, OH 43056.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Marie and her family.
