Marilyn Rose Dunn

A funeral mass, celebrating the life of Marilyn Rose Dunn, 89 of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Buckeye Lake, with Rev. Fr. William Hritsko as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jacksontown. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. when vigil services will be held at the Hoskinson Funeral Home, 285 E. Main St. In Kirkersville.

Marilyn passed away early in the morning of November 3, 2022, in Columbus, following an extended illness. She was born in Fremont, Ohio; the daughter of the late Walter and Lucille (Durnwald) Esker. She was a graduate of Fremont St. Joseph  H.S., class of 1951, and had worked at Fremont Rubber Co and the Erie depot prior to working for many years at the Newark A.F.B., where she was employed in the missile calibration department.

She was an active member of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, and a member of the Mount Carmelites and altar guild. She also enjoyed playing cards; loved watching birds and other wildlife; and was particularly fond of her feline companion, Muffy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Dunn in 2003, her brother Thomas (Sharon) Esker and her sister Shirley Esker.

Remembered as a loving sister and aunt, she is survived by her brothers Walter (Chris) Esker and Richard (Nancy) Esker; and several nieces and nephews including her nephews Stephen (Wendy) Esker and Scott (Cindy) Esker who provided watchful care for her needs during these last years.

The family wants to thank the skilled caregivers at Kobacker House Hospice, who cared for Marilyn in her final days. They prefer that memorial contributions in her memory be directed to them at :
