Funeral Services, celebrating the life of Mark Hamilton Caudill, 75, of Thornville, will be held Sunday, September 18, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of CRISS WAGNER HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, 179 Granville Street, Newark. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until time of Masonic Services at 5:00 conducted by Jackson Lodge #85 F. & A. M. Mark passed away early Thursday, September 15, 2022, with family members at his side, following a long struggle with cancer. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on July 9. 1947, the son of the late Richard K. and Jannis (Davidson) Caudill. He was a graduate of Utica High School, class of 1965. He served honorably in the US Navy, seeing duty in Argentia, New Foundland, and also was stationed on the USS Turner-834. Mark was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason while stationed in New Foundland in Heart’s Content Lodge #1275, under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of Scotland. He demitted and affiliated with Jackson Lodge #85, Brownsville during the 1970’s. He served as Treasurer for many years, prior to advancing through the line and serving as Worshipful Master in 2008. The leadership of the 19th Masonic district; seeing the outstanding leadership qualities that Mark possessed and his natural affection for the brothers, appointed Mark District Education Officer of the 19th Masonic District, 2012-2016. His leadership continued as Mark was appointed District Deputy Grand Master of Masons in the 19th Masonic District 2016. He served successfully in that capacity until 2019, when He was appointed District Advisor for the 19th Masonic District. Mark was also an active member of the Valley of Columbus, A.A.S.R. and was to receive the Special Merit Service award at the Fall reunion, to be held in October. Seeing that Mark’s time was short, Mark received a visitation from the leadership of the Valley of Columbus: Illustrious Brother Ebby Brewer accompanied by Most Worshipful Brother Timothy S. Wheeland, Grand Master of Masons in Ohio, Greg Brewer, Thrice Potent Master of the Enoch Lodge of Perfection and Thomas Moe 33 degree; who made the presentation to Mark at his home early last week; accompanied by members of Jackson Lodge #85 F.&.A.M. Mark was a Truck driver for Freedom Trucking for over 30 years. Mark is survived by his loving family: His wife Ruby (Parker) whom he married on May 15, 1993, his sons David (Stephanie) Adams, Lenn Adams, Eric (Audrey) Birkhold; his 6 grandchildren including special grandson David Adams Jr. and his wife Madison; 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his son Toby Caudill in 2015, and his daughter-in-law Ann Marie Adams in 2019. The family prefers that Memorial contributions be directed to Jackson Lodge #85, c/o Michael Morris 12930 Fairview Rd S.E., Newark, Ohio 43056. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
