Mark Charles Durant

Mark Charles Durant “Duke”, age 57, of Pataskala, Ohio and Dickson, Tennessee passed away surrounded by friends and family on Monday, August 7th, 2023, at 10:17am at Mt. Carmel East of lung cancer. An undetected, aggressive cancer, it took Mark in just four weeks from the time of diagnosis until his final day.

Mark loved to create and to build sometimes taking the most unlikely forgotten objects and making them into something unique, beautiful, and useful, again. Mark never met a stranger and was one of the most gracious, loving, humble men one could meet. With Mark in your life, you always knew there would be someone you could turn to and count on.

Mark spent many, many years working in the manufacturing industry where he excelled and applied his creativity to improving processes, but he was never happier than when he left that work behind to join Richard Kincaid and Morgan Kincaid Chandler to open One19 Craft Kitchen & Brewery in Dickson, Tennessee where he reveled in the title “brew master” and was known lovingly by all as “Uncle Duke”. A dream fulfilled for Mark, those around him now experienced the privilege of his creativity expressed in new ways.

Mark is survived by his partner of 16 years, Tammie Angelo; his two beautiful children, Echo Durant and Duke Durant; his sister, Debby Riordan; his stepsiblings, Linda Williams, Cathy Iden and Johnny Bowermaster; as well as a strong, loving network of extended family and friends, all of whom will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Durant; his mother, Judy Bowermaster; his stepmother, Fran Durant; his stepfather, John Bowermaster; and his sister, Kelly Shorter.

Mark’s family would like to thank a few exceptional healthcare professionals at Mt. Carmel East who made this very difficult last few weeks somehow better. Kelsey, Kaki, Josh, Morgan, Janelle, Dr. Hussein, and Dr. Moody… your attentiveness and compassion will not be forgotten by Mark’s family, and we are grateful for you.

A visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, at the Kirkersville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville.
