Marleen Kay Hendershot McManus of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away on November 1, 2021 at Bickford Senior Living in Lancaster. She was born May 23, 1943 in Lancaster, and grew up on a dairy farm north of Baltimore, Ohio. Marleen graduated from Liberty Union High School and from Ohio University. She taught home economics in Attica, Ohio and later at Berne Union Schools.
Marleen is a member of First United Methodist Church in Lancaster, Fairfield Co. Genealogy Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, Fairfield Heritage Association, Delta Kappa Gamma education honorary, Decorative Arts Center of Ohio. An avid traveler, Marleen visited 53 countries, all 50 US states and 7 Canadian Provinces.
Marleen is survived by husband Dale, daughter Julie (Richard) Van Meter, sons Rodney “Buzz” (Stephanie) McManus and Rob (Melinda) McManus; grandchildren Bryan (Cameron) Barnes, Emily (Phillip) Russell, Haydn, Cody and Tyler McManus, Alex Van Meter; her brother Robert (Sherry) Hendershot, along with her niece Becky (Alan) Huber, nephews Phillip, Michael (Patricia) and Jesse (Becky) Hendershot.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Leona Spitler Hendershot and her brother Gary Hendershot.
Memorial Services will be held Monday, November 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Lancaster, and Marleen will be inurned in private family services at the Kirkersville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at 11:00 a.m.
The family prefers that memorial contributions be directed to the Fairfield Heritage Association, 105 E. Wheeling Street, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
