Marquetta Rose Smith, age 89, of Frazeysburg, joined her heavenly family on Wednesday, August 10, 2016. She was born July 8, 1927 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Virgil F. and Hilda L. (Carrier) Carmickle.Marquettas family was spread across the U.S. from coast to coast, and she loved to travel yearly to see all of them, visiting many special friends along the way. As she raised her children, she enjoyed sewing, cake decorating, china painting and many other crafts, along with camping and fishing. With the birth of her granddaughters, she began collecting dolls and making porcelain dolls and tea sets. After the death of her beloved Richard, she began to travel by motor home; she lived in or traveled to nearly every state, and left friends everywhere she went. She loved the California desert but also loved watching the surfers along the Southern California coast. For her final years she made her home in Frazeysburg but traveled each winter to the warmth of sunny Southern California. She loved her church family in both Frazeysburg and Carlsbad, and we thank them for all of the love, prayers and support they have given. We also greatly appreciate the help and support of the kind and caring staff of Morrison House. She is survived by a son, Warren R. (Sandra) Woodruff of Carlsbad, CA; daughter, Claudia D.
