Martha Eileen Carroll

January 11, 1935 — April 16, 2025

Glenford

Martha Eileen Carroll, age 90, of Glenford, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Morrison House (Genesis Hospice) in Zanesville. She was born January 11, 1935 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Thomas and Viva (Glass) Walters.

Martha dedicated many years of her life as a nurse's aide and secretary, offering care and compassion to those who needed it most. Beyond her professional life, she found immense joy and fulfillment in being a homemaker. Her heart was happiest on the farm, surrounded by nature. Whether she was picking berries or tending to her garden, Martha found beauty and peace in the simplicity of rural life.

Her love for animals was evident in the way she cared for her dogs and all creatures. Martha's joyful spirit extended to her household chores, with a particular fondness for doing laundry and hanging clothes out to dry on the line.

Gifted with words, Martha expressed herself through poetry, publishing several works over the years. Her love for music was evident as she played the piano at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at Buckeye Lake Park, formerly known as Millersport. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she cherished conversations about the Bible, sharing her insights and beliefs with those around her.

She is survived by her children, Corban Carroll, with whom she made her home, Jeff Carroll of Columbus, and Christy Carroll of Florida; grandchildren, Justin (Jennifer) Held of Blacklick and Justin Bowman; son-in-law, Steve (Nancy) Held of Canal Winchester; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Viva and Eric Kemesuzian; and siblings, Harold and Thomas Walters, Rosie Payne, and Mary Ellen.

The family will have a celebration to honor Martha’s life at a later date and the service will be announced.

Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service in Thornville is honored to care for Martha and her family.
