Martha J. Knerr

A graveside service celebrating the life of Martha J. Knerr, age 101, of Newark, will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, at Newark Memorial Gardens with Rev. Betsy M. Williams and Rev. William J. Rauch officiating. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, July 20, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street in Newark. Martha was born June 12, 1917 in Canal Winchester, Ohio to the late Henry Clay and Florence Agnes (Benner) Linton. She passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the home of her daughter surrounded by her loving family. Martha was a beautician for over 35 years and later provided in-home daycare for many years. She was a faithful, long-time member of St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church in Newark where she was a member of WELCA and the Ruth Circle. She was also a member of the Buckeye Lake Seniors and the Life Again Club. Martha enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and crafting. She is survived by three daughters, Carol Jean (Bob) Quin of Clarkdale, Arizona, Florence Emma Knerr and Elizabeth I. (John) Warnock, all of Newark; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a sister, Carrie Ghiloni of Newark; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas C. Knerr, who passed away on May 30, 1982; son, Rodger Clay Knerr; step-son, John D. (Helen) Knerr; great-grandson, Mitchell Warnock; sister, Mary (Richard) Marlatt; and two brothers, Robert (Mary) Linton and Carroll (Leomae) Linton.Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 67 North Fifth Street,Newark, OH 43055 or Generation Hospice, 1435-A West Main Street, Newark, OH 43055.
