Martha J. Morrison

Martha J. Morrison, age 86, of Newark, died on January 9, 2021 at her home. Marty was born January 13, 1934, in Hebron, Ohio to the late Vincent S. and Goldie J. (Brookover) Sheets. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Morrison, who died in 2015, and a brother, Bill Sheets.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Brad Histed of Reynoldsburg; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Vivian Morrison of Phoenix, Arizona; grandson, David and Patty Histed and great-grandson, Owen, of South Kingston, Rhode Island; grandson, Tom and Malorie Histed and great grandchildren Jimmy and Emma, of Mars, Pennsylvania; grandson, Jim and Rachel Morrison of Columbia, Maryland; and brother, Jim Sheets of Hebron.

Marty enjoyed a long business career of over fifty years working for John J. O’Neill as he brought thousands of jobs into the Licking County area. Jack O’Neill was a visionary businessman who saw the big picture but didn’t want to be bothered with details.  These he trusted Marty to handle, resulting in an ideal working arrangement.

Other interests during the earlier years included bicycling with her friends from the Licking County Bicycle Club, and travels to foreign countries on many trips with those to South Africa among her most favorite. Closer to home, Marty enjoyed a long tenure as a member of the Licking County Library Board of Trustees, which supported her life-long devotion to reading and how it can broaden a person’s horizons.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours or service observed.
