A funeral service celebrating the life of Martha Ann Nichols-Pelfrey, 70 of Newark, will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, with Beau Bromberg officiating. Burial will follow in Wilson Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, two hours prior to the funeral service on Sunday, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Martha Ann Nichols-Pelfrey was born October 27, 1954 in Hillsboro, Ohio to the late James Franklin Nichols and Audrey Gipson Nichols Pegan. She passed away on November 7, 2024 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio, with her family by her side. She was a member of Newark Eagles #387. She loved Kentucky Wildcats and The Ohio State Buckeyes football. She loved country music, playing pool, gambling, her family, her friends and shopping on the Moore For Less Wall. She lost her husband in June 2024 after 33 years, Emmett Wayne Pelfrey. She will be missed by her dog Mighty Mouse. Survived by her Great grandkids, Faith Westbrook , Norah Pegan, Briley Pegan, Joseph Pegan, Mariana Pegan, Ella Baker, Kalvin Frazier, Aubriella Lowery, Rebekah Jane, Benjamin Sutton, Kota Daniels, Aubri Dunlap, Emmitt Sutton and MaryAnn Ellison Lockhart-Shepherd Proceeded in death by her maternal grandparents, Ida and Elliott Gipson; paternal grandparents. Minnie and Sugar Grant Nichols; brothers, Albert Nichols, Bucky Nichols, Theodore Nichols; sisters, Bonnie Nichols, Pauline Tolle, Robin Gregg, and Virgie Nichols; son, James Robert Pegan and daughter Minnie Elizabeth Pegan; grandsons, Ronnie Mitchell and Jonathon Alexander Campbell; granddaughter, Natoshia Shyann Marie Pegan; and great granddaughter, Lillian Annajean Sutton.
