Martha Kristin Powers-Helphrey

Martha Kristin "Kris" Powers-Helphrey, a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Nana and Great-grandmother, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 24, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio. She was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on November 22, 1949, to the late Wayne B. and Joan Martha (Dadosky) Wheeler. She is preceded in her death along with her late husband Jim Powers (father of Jennifer).

She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Portsmouth, Ohio. Kris pursued a successful career as an Office Manager at Central Ohio Sports Medicine & Orthopedics, retiring in 2008.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. An active parishioner and Eucharistic minister at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Buckeye Lake, she dedicated much of her time to serving others through the church’s food pantry. She was also a member of the Sunshine Club at Good Samaritan Village in Kissimmee, Florida. She had a cherished tight-knit group of friends who enjoyed lifelong camaraderie and called themselves the "Butt Sisters". Kris was known as "Rosie Butt". She never said "no" to anything and made friends with every dog, always having treats available.

Kris is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Helphrey; children, Jennifer (Matthew) Spray, Michael Helphrey, and Michelle (Matthew) Nichols, grandchildren; Ryan, Lucas, Emmalee, and Lillian Spray, Jordan (Natalie) Helphrey, Allison Julian, and Hannah and Haley Nichols; great-grandchildren, Sophia and Brantley Spray, Matthew, Mackenzie and Maxmus Helphrey, and Jack and Emma Julian, as well as many beloved family members. 

Family and friends will be received on Monday, March 3, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 5133 Walnut Rd., Buckeye Lake, Ohio. The family will also receive family and friends at the church on Tuesday, March 4, 1 hour prior to the funeral mass at 10:00am. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, 11539 National Rd SW, Pataskala, Ohio. 

Her family and friends will forever cherish her legacy of kindness and love. The family encourages those who would like to honor Kris' memory to consider donations to the food pantry at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Buckeye Lake.
