Marvel M. Dornon

A funeral service celebrating the life of Marvel M. Dornon, age 86, of Thornville, will be held at the Thornville chapel of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 6:00 p.m., with Pastor Paul Hansen officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home two hours prior to the funeral service on Thursday, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Marvel was born in Bucyrus, Ohio on April 4, 1931 to the late Guy and Viola Shumaker. She passed away April 24, 2017 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. Marvel was a devoted homemaker to her husband and children. She also worked at the Thornville Pharmacy for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Julian Soup Dornon, whom she married February 3, 1952; son, Steve (Kim) Dornon; daughter, Tonya (John) Shepard; grandchildren, Jennifer Bussey, Josh Shepard and Ashley Sherman; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Marilyn; sisters, Kate, Donna Grace and Dorothy; and brother, Don.
