A funeral service celebrating the life of Marvin Lloyd Ashley, age 80, of Newark, will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, with Pastor Cory Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery.Marvin was born in New Lexington, Ohio on January 29, 1936 to the late Ruth (Ashley) McHenry. He passed away at Licking Memorial Hospital on December 22, 2016.Prior to retirement, Marvin worked for Contour Forming for over 30 years. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Druids in Newark and Newark Eagles Lodge. He was an avid Ohio State Football fan, enjoyed dancing, playing blackjack on the riverboats, and spending time with his family and friends.Survivors include his daughters, Jamie (Heath) Piper of Texas and Tina West of Dresden; six grandchildren, Shannon Ashley, Jeff Munyan, Nicole Ashley, Mark D. Henderson, Jr., Austin Lees and Chase Piper; four great grandchildren; his lady friend, Janet Fisk; and numerous brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Betty Lou (Ramsey) Ashley; son, Marvin Doug Ashley; grandchild, Stacy West; son-in-law, Andy West; and several brothers and sisters.Friends may call at the funeral home 179 Granville Street, Newark, on Tuesday, December 27th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Marvin and the Ashley family.
