A funeral service celebrating the life of Marvin Vaughn White, Sr., age 58, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Waters and Pastor Greg Sheets officiating. Burial will take place in Newark Memorial Gardens where military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Friends may call from 11 am-1 pm prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark. Casual attire is preferred.Marvin was born February 17, 1958 in Delaware, Ohio to Earl Wray White, Sr. and Naomi Ann (Mitchell) White. He passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at his home.Marvin was a veteran of the United States Army and faithfully served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was self-employed in construction and attended Truth Tabernacle. Marvin enjoyed genealogy, gardening, canning and spending time with his family. He was a fan of the OSU Buckeyes.In addition to his parents, Earl and Naomi, of Newark, he is survived by his wife of 24 years, Patty White of Newark; sons, Marvin V. White, Jr. (Amber) and Brian White (Jamie), all of Somerset and Marc White of Newark; four grandchildren, Levi, Owen, Luke and Benjamin; and extended family of four children and seven grandchildren; brothers, Jerry Hummell (Ginger) of Newark, Terry Hummell (Kim) of Texas and Milo White (Roberta) of Newark; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl White, Jr.Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Marvin and his family.
