Mary Alice Anthony

Funeral services celebrating the life of Mary Alice Anthony, 73, of Pataskala, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018 in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, with Pastor Mark Plaugher as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Pataskala Cemetery. Mary died peacefully on Thursday, March 1, 2018 in Newark following an extended illness. She was born August 14, 1944 in Georgetown, S.C., the daughter of the late Woodrow S. and Mary Jane (Barribeau) Blakely. She was an active caregiver her whole life, caring for family, and as a foster mother and babysitter. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She also participated in a ministry for nursing home residents, cheering them with care packages and Christmas gifts. Mary is survived by her loving family: Husband, James Greek Anthony, whom she married on July 6, 1963; her children Jim (Lori) Anthony of Baltimore, Christine (Fred) Mathews and Lori (Kacy) Crawford, all of Pataskala; grandchildren Justin (Heather) Crawford, Daniel (Taylar) Mathews, Melody Anthony, Kevin Crawford, Courtney (Matt) Barnhart; great-grandchildren Colton, Hunter, Finnley and Rylie; her sister Callie (Robert) Barras of Murrells Inlet, S.C., and brother Samuel (Linda) Blakely of Georgetown S.C.; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter Tammy Lynn; and her brothers Albert and Carl. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Services at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville.
