A funeral service celebrating the life of Mary J. Allen, 84, of Newark, will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark. Friends may call two hours prior to the funeral service, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Mary was born in Newark, Ohio on May 18, 1940 to the late Ralph William and Dorothy (Hoskinson) Sites. She passed away at her residence on December 22, 2024 while surrounded by her loving family. Mary was a devoted homemaker to her family. She was a member of the Heath Eagles, Newark Eagles and the American Legion Post # 85 in Newark. She enjoyed playing pool for the Indian Mound Pool League, bowling and spending time with her family. These were just a few things Mary loved to do. Life without her is never going to be the same because she was a huge part of so many people’s lives. Survivors include her daughters, Leila Gill and Diane Lightle of Newark; niece, Melissa McKinney and Marion Mickey Ramsey of Baltimore, Ohio; nephew, Michael Blessard of Lancaster; stepsons, Gary Allen Jr. and Ronnie Allen of Newark; grandchildren, Troy Howard and Jesika Condon of Newark, Willie Jr. and Amber Neighbor of Heath, Amy and Mark Stiles of Newark, Christina Emerick of Newark, Tubs Howard and Tosha Rehart of Newark, Tasha and Donald Downhour of Newark, Michelle Howard of Newark, Danny Emerick of Newark, Kayla and David Randolph of Newark, Bryan Waites of St. Lousiville and Tina Powers of Newark. She has many great grandchildren who are going to be lost without her, many of which she had a part in raising. Her greatgrandchildren include Maddie, Matthew, Ashie, Alexis, Bradley, Aaliyah, Cameron, Dakota, TJ, Gary, Kevin, Kiara, Jordan, Katie, Willie, Amya, Cooper, AJ, Caleb, Wesley and Justin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, Earnest Leo Gill and Gary Allen; sister, Doris Marlene Sites Whightsel; brothers, Larry Damon Sites and Eugene Sites; son, Kevin Eugene Gill; niece, Rebecca Davis Whightsel; greatgrandchildren, Summer Nicole Howard, Baby Stiles and Wyatt Howard.
