Mary Eileen Bauman, 94, of Newark, died Monday, February 6, 2023, at the Laurels of Heath. She was born July 20, 1928, in Newark to the late Elmer and Ester (Hummel) Lawson. Mary retired from Sears and Roebuck. She enjoyed ceramics, swimming, and camping, especially in the 5th wheel camper that her and her husband traveled the country in. She competed in bowling and golf leagues where she won league championships. Mary was an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed canning vegetables from the garden and loved her cats. She is survived by her children, Paul (Darlene) Bauman of Huron, OH, Bret (Dorothy) Bauman of Romulus, MI, and Nancy Bauman-Mitchell of Granville, Twp.; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her special stepdad, Charles Pfeffer; husband, Forest “Frosty” Bauman; brother, Frank Lawson; and son-in-law, Richard Mitchell. Memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to the Licking County Humane Society and/or Hospice of Central Ohio. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
