A funeral service celebrating the life of Mary M. Chrislip, 86, of Heath, will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Welsch and Pastor Wally McLaughlin officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, on Tuesday, September 5th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mary was born in Folsom, WV on September 22, 1936 to the late Ray and Beatrice (Amos) Bates. She passed away at Chapel Grove in Heath on August 30, 2023. Prior to retirement, Mary was a heart technician with Licking Memorial Hospital for 30 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Heath. She enjoyed collecting dolls, bells, angels, gardening, and traveling, but most important was the time she spent with her loving family, especially doting on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary was a very caring person, would help anyone in need, and will be missed by everyone that knew her. Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark Lynn and Susan Lynn Chrislip, and Mike and Janice Chrislip; brothers, Clarence Bates and Charles “Tex” Bates; grandchildren, Jeremy (Clancy) Chrislip, Bryan (Laura) Chrislip, Shannon (Ryan) Knighton, Morgan (Jeremy Gordon) Chrislip and Lindsey (Dan) Fawcett; great grandchildren, Sydney (Peyton) Williamson, Meredith Chrislip, Macy Chrislip, Allie Chrislip, Madison Knighton, Raylin Knighton, Kylee Morgan, Aliza Morgan, Leila Morgan, Ben Fawcett and Jack Fawcett; great great granddaughter, Ansleigh Williamson; sister-in-law, Peg Bates and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Lynn Chrislip; sisters, Nola Mae, Clara and Olive; brothers, William and twin brother, Joseph “Doc”; and sister-in-law, Maxine Bates. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mary to the Alzheimer’s Association of Central Ohio. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
